Monthly Online Cooking Classes
Once a month, I host a live, interactive cooking class themed around a place, a tradition, or a philosophy that has shaped the way I cook and eat.
We’ll cook together in real time, ask questions as we go, and you’ll leave with recipes you'll make again and again. Every class draws on stories and conversations inspired by our shared love of good food, unforgettable places, and the people who have joined us at our tables.
Classes rotate monthly. Here are a few examples:
The Monastery Kitchen Recipes and rituals from abbey refectories and temple kitchens throughout the world. It’s the kind of food that makes an everyday evening feel sacred. Drawn from my book Elysian Kitchens and a decade of research in contemplative communities worldwide.
The Nordic Table The flavors of Iceland, Denmark, and Scandinavia, from my years co-writing two cookbooks with Michelin-starred Icelandic chef Gunnar Karl Gíslason of Dill in Reykjavik and developing friendships and an abiding respect for the country’s traditional food producers.
Plant-Based Temple Cuisine Vibrant, nourishing recipes from Buddhist temples across Japan, Korea, Thailand, and India. From my book Eat Like a Monk, these are approachable plant-based recipes rooted in centuries of contemplative tradition. Beautiful to look at, simple to make, and deeply satisfying.
The Global Pantry A tour through kitchens throughout the world. Each session focuses on a different culinary tradition: Moroccan tagines, Japanese temple food, Indian chaat, Italian pasta from scratch. These are fun, colorful recipes you’ll use again and again.
Seasonal Feast Cooking with what's in season, wherever you are. Menus change with the calendar, built around the philosophy that the best meals start with what's fresh, local, and available.
How it works Classes are live on Zoom, 90 minutes to 2 hours. You'll receive a shopping list and recipe pack 72 hours before class. Cook along in real time, ask questions as you go, and we’ll enjoy what we've made together. Classes are recorded for anyone who can't attend live.
$45 per class. Story Feast members at the Storyteller and Inner Circle tiers attend free.
Next class: The Monastery Kitchen: Saturday, May 16th. Third Saturday of every month.
